Deep primer remover FAQ - Frequently asked questions
Deep primer remover - Frequently asked questions
Here you will find all the important information about HATOCH® deep primer removers. Our experts answer the most frequently asked questions about application, safety and product selection.
Basics
What is primer and why does it need to be removed?
Deep primer (also called bonding primer or bonding primer) is a liquid primer applied to walls, floors, and other surfaces before painting or plastering. It improves adhesion and reduces the absorbency of the substrate. During renovations, deep primer often accidentally gets onto windows, doors, window sills, or floors. There, it hardens and forms a stubborn, sticky layer that cannot be removed with normal cleaning agents.
What is a deep primer remover and how does it work?
A primer remover is a specialized cleaning agent that breaks down the chemical bonds of hardened primer. HATOCH® Primer Remover penetrates the primer layer, softens it, and thus allows for mechanical removal with a blade, spatula, or sponge. Unlike aggressive solvents, our formula works gently and leaves no residue.
For which types of primers is HATOCH® Primer Remover suitable?
HATOCH® primer remover is suitable for most common types of primer:
- Acrylic deep primer: Water-based primers (most common)
- Mineral deep primers: Silicate and cement-based primers
- Synthetic resin deep primer: Solvent-based primers
- Universal deep primer: Combination products
For particularly stubborn or unknown types of deep primer, we recommend our HATOCH® Deep Primer Remover SPECIAL .
Application
How do I use primer remover correctly?
Step-by-step instructions:
- Preparation: Remove loose dirt from the surface and ventilate the work area well.
- Application: Apply the deep primer remover generously to the soiled area (spray or apply directly).

- Mechanical processing: Carefully scrape off the softened primer using a glass scraper, blade, or spatula.

- Rinse: Wipe with clean water and allow to dry.
Important: Repeat the process for very stubborn stains.
